The goal of Eyenovate is to provide innovative and practical products that simplify the lives of optical industry providers and their customers.
As the son of an optometrist in a family of optometrists, Eyenovate founder Dennis G. Zelazowski was exposed to the industry at an early age. Beginning at the age of 13, Dennis began working in his father’s optical practice, performing a variety of duties and developing his own ideas about business process and execution. He showed an aptitude in the optical business, and committed himself to learning the business through college.
Several years ago, under the increased pressure from insurance companies, Dennis decided to find ways to cut costs and increase revenues at his father’s practice. His first target was the workflow software used by the practice – an inefficient system that cost the practice countless human resource hours. Under his leadership, he developed a web-based software application that increased office efficiency, allowed for the elimination of staff, and improved functionality. Dennis’ second target was increasing sales of high-margin products, which included traditional sunglass clips. While his initial efforts proved fruitful – the practice sold more clips resulting in more high-margin sales – he found himself making multiple repairs and adjustments when significant numbers of customers had difficulty with the product. This led to the development of the Chemistrie Sunlens, a product that addressed all of the challenges faced by the traditional clips he sold.
His ground-level efforts to commercialize the product grew into a small lens edging and finishing service, expanding to 65 national retailers via trade show exhibitions and other marketing activities. Once Dennis’ business had generated significant monthly sales, he decided that the sunlens product was ready for general release.
Dennis made the decision to create a structure that would grow the business beyond a single-person entrepreneurial venture. George C. Parks, a fifty-year veteran of serial entrepreneurship, was secured to provide leadership during the company's considerable growth phase. Under his guidance, the company was renamed Eyenovate to reinforce its innovative philosophy in the optical industry, and began to lay the foundation for a successful company. Today, Eyenovate has been growing rapildy as consumer demand has contributed to sustained growth.
